Glen Burnie isn’t a bad town to live in. The town is full of history and the community comes together when they need to. The town was founded in 1812 and less than one square mile of the town limits is made up of water. The current total population, as of 2010, is over sixty-seven thousand people and growing. The town has a lot of good public schools to choose from and even a private school that individuals can use. There is also a community college close by for those that want to stay at home and further their education. The climate is classified as humid subtropical. All in all, Glen Burnie is a good place to build a family or work on building a future.

Bello Machre, the Glen Burnie nonprofit supporting developmentally disabled area residents, raised more than $200,000 with its Every Step Counts fundraiser June 9. The fundraiser drew 400 participants to Anne Arundel Community College. They walked, biked and ran in an effort to raise awareness and cash. The total raised was a record for the organization, which has hosted the event annually for 27 years. Bello Machre’s Development Director Tracy Lynott said businesses and individuals made the event extraordinary. A head-start was offered by Dimensional Health Care’s corporate sponsorship of $20,000. It is good to know that there is still some good in the world. Bello Machre is a non-profit group that helps those who are developmentally disabled in Glen Burnie. They ran an “Every Step Counts” fundraiser on June 9. Apparently, every step really did count, because they were able to raise over two hundred thousand dollars. There was over 400 people that participated in raising money for the cause. The event was about more than just raising money and also raised awareness of the challenges faced by this population. The organization has held an event every year for twenty-seven years. The community truly came together and did something amazing.


Old Glen Burnie Fire Department in Glen Burnie, MD

The Glen Burnie Fire Department has been serving the county since 1922 (almost 100 years). It is a large part of the County Fire Department and serves around sixty thousand individuals. More than just being a fire department, however, the department is part of the community. From taking part in community events to numerous fund-raising and charity events, the fire department takes pride in its community. You can also rent the lodge for your next big event. Many people use the location for corporate events, graduation parties, baby showers, and birthday parties. Military and first responders even get a ten percent discount.
